We’re kicking off spring in style by the radical indie press who are curating bold new content while raging against the patriarchy – join us to launch Monstrous Regiment ’s The Bi-ble: An Anthology of Personal Narratives and Essays About Bisexuality.
Bisexuals inhabit a liminal space between cultures, often misunderstood or dismissed by the straight and LGBTQ+ communities alike. Along with asexuality, bisexuality is the sexual identity most likely to be closeted, most at risk of mental illness, domestic abuse, and even heart disease* – but also the least visible. In December 2017, Monstrous Regiment published a selection of intersectional bi voices in the hope of sharing their stories, and helping voices be heard and identities be seen.
Now, with this bisexual book bash, it’s time to stand up and spread the good word. Through two short panel discussions, we will investigate bisexuality’s place in queer spaces and LGBT history. We will also look at the evolution of identity labels, and hear three readings from the book’s authors on topics such as bisexuality in heterosexual marriage, bisexuality and chronic illness, and how coming out saved a life. Afterwards, there will be plenty of time for questions, meeting the authors and editors, signings, and sipping on some very good wine. All are welcome, and The Bi-ble will be available on the night.
Featuring: Lauren Nickodemus (editor), Briana Pegado (panel chair), Laura Clay (author), Lis-Marie Ferla (blogger), Joseph Guthrie, Rosy Glen, Mel Reeve, Alice T, Rob O’ Sullivan (writers) and more.
