We’re thrilled to be hosting award-winning actor, singer-songwriter, poet and playwright Gerda Stevenson as she reads from her new collection, QUINES: Poems in Tribute to the Women of Scotland.
In this, her second collection of poetry, Gerda charts the contribution made to Scottish history and society by some remarkable women – singers, politicians, a fish-gutter, queens, a dancer, a marine engineer, a salt seller, sportswomen, scientists, a whole football team(!), and many more.
“Quines is a vivid explosion of thought, description and bold opinion, clothing Scots history at last with the myriad contribution of its women.” – Lesley Riddoch
The Lighthouse invites you to join us as Gerda performs her poems in both Scots and English, redraws Scottish history in verse, and discusses the wider implications of her work.
