We devoured Ruby Tandoh’s new book ‘Eat Up’, so we’re super excited to be working with Edinburgh University’s Liberations Campaign to bring you this event where Ruby will be discussing the intersections of food, appetite and eating what you want!
BOOK FREE PLACES THROUGH EVENTBRITE: HERE
In ‘Eat Up’, Ruby Tandoh celebrates the fun and pleasure of food, taking a look at everything from gluttons and gourmets in the movies, to the symbolism of food and sex. She will arm you against the fad diets, food crazes and bad science that can make eating guilt-laden and expensive, drawing eating inspiration from influences as diverse as Roald Dahl, Nora Ephron and Gemma from TOWIE. Filled with straight-talking, sympathetic advice on everything from mental health to recipe ideas and shopping tips, this is a book that clears away the fog, to help you fall back in love with food.
The event will begin with a 40 minute conversation between Ruby and the bookshop’s own Jess Brough, who is a research assistant at the University of Edinburgh and will be starting her Ph.D. in Psychology here in September. She’s interested in how and why we develop biases in our language and has a passion for seasoning. It will be followed by an audience Q+A.
After the Q+A, Ruby will be signing copies of Eat Up, and Lighthouse are kindly selling books on the night. They will also be offering 10% off the book for those who reserve a copy of the book, please ensure you select the correct ticket on Eventbrite.
