8pm start, Friday 1st December, in the Bookshop. This event is FREE but please book below to ensure we have catering organised for everyone.
Celebrated Aussie food blogger Kate Young shares tales and recipes from The Little Library Cookbook, in which she has captured the magic and wonder of the meals enjoyed by some of our best-loved fictional characters. Kate is joined by critically acclaimed Scottish novelist, poet and editor Kevin MacNeil, who will be offering up Haiku-kery recipes and Grassucino inspired by his latest book The Diary of Archie the Alpaca!
At Lighthouse we truly believe books do more than merely entertain or inform : they nourish our souls. Kate and Kevin will be sharing food as well as stories from their books and their take on the great comforts and solace that books can offer. We’ll also be hearing from Streetreads, the charity bringing books to the homeless in Edinburgh. This event wraps up a series of bookshop events shining a spotlight on the hardships of lives lead in poverty, and in particular our homelessness crisis. The event is free and includes a foodie journey through Kate’s book, including Spanakopita Jeffrey Eugenides Middlesex and hot chocolate from Philip Pullman’s Oxford!
Kate and Kevin’s books will be available to purchase on the night and both authors would be delighted to sign and dedicate copies.
This event is part of Book Week Scotland, it is supported (with HUGE thanks) by the Scottish Book Trust.
