The Mermaid, The Girl and The Gondola follows the daring expeditions of a young girl who moves from Scotland to Italy with her family.

After the initial culture shock, and before loneliness start to sink in, she meets a mermaid on the canal and they both have a very exciting friendship. They meet many mysterious characters along the way including a fortune teller and haunting masked demons. It is set before the beautiful backdrop of Venice; a place full of magic, carnival, costume, myth and mysticism. A place where fairy-tales are made. The only problem is that there is a lot of deception and duplicity at play, and by the end of the story there is questioning about whether the mermaid was who she said she was at the start.
