Second Memory is a collaborative pamphlet written by Pratyusha and Alycia Pirmohamed that traces and entwines their ancestral histories. Bringing together both creative and theoretical approaches, their work slips between genres - at times personal essay, at times prose-poetry - and ghosts across intergenerational trauma, shadowy memories, dreams, and fraught landscapes. Epistolary dialogue underpins the intimacy of the writing, weaving together two voices, at once illusory and tactile.
Pratyusha is an Indo-Swiss writer based in London. Her latest pamphlet, Bulbul Calling, was published with Bitter Melon Press in 2020. She co-edits amberflora and writes poetry, prose and reviews. Her website can be found here.
Alycia Pirmohamed is the author of the pamphlets Faces that Fled the Wind (BOAAT Press) and Hinge (Oxford Brookes’ ignitionpress), and the winner of the 2020 Edwin Morgan Poetry Award. She received her MFA from the University of Oregon and her PhD from the University of Edinburgh. She is currently a Postdoctoral Creative Writing Fellow at the University of Liverpool.
