About
What is Book Fringe?
The Book Fringe is our free, bookshop run, alternative August literary festival! For a third year we return with ALT Edition of Book Fringe, which sees us join forces with Argonaut and Typewronger to deliver a programme of events that highlight each bookshop’s personality.
Entirely run and curated by three of Scotland’s leading indie bookshops, Book Fringe offers readers the opportunity to meet world-class writers in the intimate and lively settings of local bookshops.
Led by Lighthouse, Book Fringe has been running for over a decade, each year reinventing itself just a wee bit while continuing to celebrate accessibility, community and creativity as only indie bookshops can!
This year the Book Fringe consists of three kinds of event, to reflect the three partners in this ALT edition of the festival: Lunchtime at Lighthouse (running for 30-40 minutes), Tea-time at Typewronger and Evenings at Argonaut! Visit our bookshops & websites for more details!
FULL PROGRAM ANNOUNCED END OF JULY, but for now enjoy a wee tease...

Entry to ALL events is free: no tickets, no ticket booking (unless you want event reminders), just show up to discover some great authors.
Events are first come first seated, so try to come a bit early to guarantee a spot (and have a browse!)
ACCESS: Lighthouse has a wheelchair ramp for indoor events, but some steps into the garden, seating, microphones and livestreaming for events. Typewronger has seating and a microphone, sadly owing to the nature of the building it is not wheelchair accessible. Argonaut is fully ground level, including toilets, and has a microphone for events.
