Like chatting books and ideas, but not into book clubs?

Want to meet folk interested in exploring the same worlds as you but not sure where to find them?

Counter Socials are the not-a-book-club bookshop run social that's just the thing for you!

Find us each month at Summerhall's gallery bar where we'll have a new theme and a few words from a selection of local writers, artists, activists or performers whose work intersects with that topic.

May's topic is Cathartic Creativity - a chance to explore arts, crafts, writing and other creative pursuits that encourage us to connect with ourselves and others, that have fueled artists past and present, that help us break down our own walls and others!

You can rock up with friends for a lit-salon style night out, you can come solo and be introduced to others in the room, listen in to the 20-25mins of speakers or tuck yourself away to read with one of the themed texts we've brought along for you to browse.

Readings/Speakers will kick off at 6.30pm, so there is time to grab a drink or settle down before - our new partners in crime from the fabulousMF Coffee Project do coffees and teas, wine and beer and some very tasty food too.

Speakers to be announced, but expect to hear more about a new exhibition at Dovecot, the Spit It Out Festival, zine making - feel free to bring some of your own! - and more.

Are you part of an art/craft/creative group? Please feel free to plug your projects or share your experiences :)
