If Anyone Builds It, Everyone Dies: PauseAI hosts an evening of discussion around AI

This event is also available to book via luma - if you've already booked there, no need to book again!
We're thrilled to welcome PauseAI Edinburgh to the bookshop to host their book club on recently published New York Times non-fiction bestseller: If Anyone Builds It, Everyone Dies: The Case Against Superintelligent AI. PauseAI are a community of volunteers and local communities coordinated by a non-profit organization that aims to mitigate the risks of AI. They aim to convince our governments to step in and pause the development of superhuman AI. They do this by informing the public, talking to decision-makers, and organizing events. On this occasion they'll be hosting an open, informal discussion based on some readings from If Anyone Builds It, Everyone Dies. All are welcome regardless of AI experience or expertise. https://pauseai.info/sayno
Attendees need not have read the entirety of the book, but we recommend having it started & being familiar with its arguments so that the discussion can be as constructive and expansive as possible. We appreciate the book is a £22 Hardback new release, to make it more affordable to attendees we are offering a 15% discount using the code "PAUSE-AI-BOOKCLUB", and if you are broke do feel free to make use of our Pay-it-forward fund!
