Srebrenica Memorial Week
Guest
This year marks the 26th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica during the Bosnian War. The theme for this year's memorial week, taking place between 4th and 11th of July, is 'Rebuilding Lives'. In solidarity with those whose lives remain marked by trauma, today we're sharing a Statement of Commemoration, written by the charitable initiative Remembering Srebrenica.
The folks at Remembering Srebrenica have also put together a reading list, which you can explore right here. Here are books, from children's books to fiction and non-fiction, to teach about tolerance, keep history of the attrocity and its surrounding conflict alive, to commemorate lives lost, and to make connections with situations around the world today.
