The Edinburgh Tool Library turns 10!
Guest
It’s time to celebrate some friends’ significant birthday!
This year marks ten years since the birth of the Edinburgh Tool Library. Since 2014, these generous, multi-skilled and resilient humans have been lending tools (over 55 000 in fact), sharing skills and doing community outreach projects.
We love this project. We love the way that the most practical of interventions can have wide-ranging positive effects on community resilience and wellbeing, and we can’t wait to see what the Edinburgh Tool Library’s journey goes next.
As a celebration, we put together a reading list inspired by the ETL’s manifesto, weaving together writing on circular economy and degrowth, community building, reuse and repair, and diversity in the world of crafting, all visions which sit at the very core of the ETL’s mission. We hope you find something here that inspires you.
The ETL will be hosting a series of events in the next wee while to mark its tenth year. You can read more about them HERE. Hopefully see you at one of them!
