Freddie Spoon is having a birthday party for the FIRST TIME EVER. Nell can't wait to go, until she realises that she's also accepted an invitation to super-popular Lucy Perkins's party on the very same afternoon! Disaster! But luckily Nell is looking after Hamish the school hamster, and Hamish is very smart. When he makes a surprise guest appearance at Lucy's party, he not only rescues Nell from a fate worse than death, he also saves her teenage sort-of rock star brother and his noisy rock band and gives Freddie the best birthday ever!
