THIS EVENT IS IN-PERSON ONLY

Poster making with the artist behind our Radical Book Fair poster for 2023. Explore radical design and the roots and history of radical creative practices while having a crack at your own creation - no skills, knowledge or materials needed, this is an opportunity for anyone get a wee bit creative.

In this workshop, we will draw inspiration from Lighthouse Bookshop’s collection to explore the use of image, text and pattern in book cover art. Using printmaking techniques ( including monotype ) we will combine hand made graphics with collage and typography. Participants will be encouraged to be inspired by the stories they want to tell, as well as those in the programme, and together we’ll explore how we can communicate our shared struggles through art, poster design, and the art of the radical book cover!

Our workshop facilitator:

Celeste John-Wood is a multi-media artist, designer and facilitator. She is interested in collaborative working and participatory live art events, and is part of a political graphic design collective exploring the history and present day use of design in grassroots social activist movements.

She has also recently completed an artist residency with Out of the Blueprint, where she experimented with risography to explore entanglements between ourselves, our ecologies, individual and collective experiences.

Celeste enjoys mixing and matching, combining and repurposing elements of different printmaking processes, embracing unpredictability and the joy this process can bring to herself and participants!
