To say that we all deserve joy, kindness and care seems like an obvious statement, and yet we live in a climate that seeks to crush connection; one in which systemic prejudice continues to marginalise so many.

Even as we strive to create change, the dogmas of individualism, competition and constant production threaten to creep into our relationships and communities. We are all dependent on each other.

Join Rianna Walcott and Gemma Cairney to explore how to nurture these interdependencies, and put care and wellbeing at the centre of everything we do. Together we can cultivate a world in which each and every one of us can not only live but thrive.

Our speakers:

Rianna Walcott is co-editor of the anthology The Colour of Madness, she is an academic, activist, writer, and musician. Her LAHP-funded PhD focused on Black women's identity in digital spaces.

Gemma Cairney is a multi-award winning broadcaster, author, production company founder, magpie, activist & Life Enthusiast. Alongside her award winning radio shows she has presented many acclaimed television documentaries including: History of Feminism (BBC Learning), Riots: The Aftershock and Dying for Clear Skin (BBC 3).

Our Chair is Roxani Krystalli. Roxani is an academic, writer and storyteller, who has worked as a practitioner in humanitarian action, peace-building, and transitional justice. Her work is interested in the themes of memory and loss, nature and place, violence and care.
