SCALP (Scottish Activist Legal Project) brings a compressed version of their training for everyone participating in actions or protests in Scotland.

The Know Your Rights training aims to facilitate learning around a variety of useful things related to your rights. Things we'll touch on include, how to talk or not talk with Police if you are approached, your rights when it comes to things like Stop and Search, how to identify who's who within the policing team at protests, and what to expect and how to support yourself and each other.

Training such as this is a key part in keeping us all safe.

Our facilitators:

Scottish Community & Activist Legal Project (SCALP) is a collective of activists from social and environmental justice groups in Scotland who are collaborating on community and activist legal support.

We attend protests to challenge police abuse , support people in case of arrest, and provide legal information to activists.

We are keen to hear from any groups planning direct action in Scotland who need legal support, those who have skills to offer, and people who are keen to get training on how to give activist legal support themselves.

*Please note that masks will be required at this event (as with all Lighthouse events).

*Accessibility: We'll have provisions for neurodivergent guests including stims, quiet space and colour-coded lanyards.

*Events are £6 or free -we completely understand paying for one or two events and then getting free spots for others. The Radical Book Fair is entirely bookshop run and ticket sales are vital to keeping the fair sustainable and paying all our speakers so all support is heartily welcome!

*If you'd like to help make the book fair accessible to more folks, please consider adding to our pay-it-forward fund HERE.
