Independent Bookshop Week starts on 15th June, and this year it coincides with the second edition of our festival for romance writing: First Date takes place at Summerhall on 14-15 June!

If you're not in Edinburgh for it, fear not. The panels will not only be livestreamed, but we've also invited some of our favourite authors of romance fiction from further afield to take part in the celebrations virtually by recommending their favourite romance reads!

Today, we're joined by Chloe Seager, recommending three of her favourite romance novels.

Chloe Seager is a children’s and YA agent at Madeleine Milburn Agency. Chloe lives in London and in her spare time she likes listening to noughties emo music, watching reality TV and shouting at Spurs games. Open Minded is her debut adult novel and centres on relationships in all their diverse and messy glory. You can find her on Twitter @chloeseager and Instagram @chloenseager.

These are Chloe’s recommendations!

  • Check & Mate by Ali Hazelwood: I had to recommend this book, because I was the house chess captain of my school, and this book is officially making chess sexy!
  • Double Booked by Lily Lindon: This is about a girl who thinks she’s got everything sorted out, perfect life, perfect boyfriend. But then she meets a woman who she has a big crush on - and chaos ensues!
  • Wild Things by Laura Kay: About a group of friends who all go away to the countryside together to start a commune, and about El who has a secret crush on her best friend Ray!
