Tradwife media has been proliferating for a few years and now they're having their literary moment with not one, but three hotly tipped new novels capturing the zeitgeist.

There's a lot to recommend the buzzy new bestseller that is Yesteryear, and we're hearing great things about tradwife horror helpfully named Trad Wife, and Trad Wife.

But we'd be remiss as feminists if we didn't invite you to then also explore some of the brilliant literature that's come out over the last few years to situate this social phenomenon in a wider context!

The tradwife is a bridge back from the crisis of the nuclear family that so panics the political right - and a false, gendered, promise of a possible return to a mythical past.

"As wages stagnate, wealth inequality intensifies, debt suffocates, and social spending perpetually decreases, young people are increasingly rejecting overidentification with work. I don’t dream of labor, as the social media hashtag goes. The tradwife speaks, however obliquely and however disingenuously, to this disenchantment" - From Scratch, Verso Blog

Alongside the feminist critiques of right wing women, and the new faces and mechanisms of patriarchy, we've included here thrillers and novels that explore the social media phenomenon and the current landscape of motherhood - happy reading!
