Phenomenal books by muslim writers
Noor
To celebrate Ramadan we have brought together a selection of tremendous fiction, reflection, polemic and more by Muslim writers.
Whatever your faith, or religion, these books are joyous, liberating, eye opening, enchanting, sometimes challenging - all are a gift.
Alongside Faith and spiritual discipline, core aspects of the holy month of Ramadan are compassion, community and togetherness. This pandemic year has offered up lots of time to reflect of the community that has flourished in & around the bookshop. From all walks of life we have come together around books - thank you for being a part of that, for the generosity and vulnerability in sharing and communing around books. In the spirit of charity encouraged through Ramadan, we invite readers to support
- Saheliya- a specialist mental health and well-being support organisation for Black, minority ethnic, asylum seeker, refugee and migrant women and girls.
- Hidaya - who provide support and welfare for LGBTQI+ Muslims and promote social justice and education to counter discrimination, prejudice and injustice.
- Inclusive Mosque - An intersectional feminist mosque with the aim of establishing a place of worship for the promotion and practice of an inclusive Islam
And please consider signing this petition, by Edinburgh Must Act, calling on Edinburgh council to welcome and resettle refugees & asylum seekers: HERE.
