“The Witch is the embodiment of a powerful myth , an archetype embraced by feminists, radical thinkers and spiritual seekers” - Allyson Shaw
On Wednesday February 15th we gather in the shop to celebrate the arrival of 'Ashes and Stones: A Scottish Journey in Search of Witches and Witness' by Allyson Shaw. It is a moving and personal journey, along rugged coasts and through remote villages and modern cities, in search of the traces of those accused of witchcraft in seventeenth-century Scotland.
The figure of the witch, as identity, as archetype, stereotype, power and creative source, is perpetually re-imagined, and witches have made a mark on history in more ways than the obvious.
These are books that explore this history in myriad ways, from memoir to novel, from persecution to modern feminist theories.
Tickets to our event for Ashes and Stones are available HERE!
