The queer version: retellings of classic stories

Over the next few weeks we have the pleasure of hosting not one but TWO events with fantastic authors who have both created stunning, bold and imaginative novels drawing on the stuff of legend - classic, familiar stories to inspire something completely new and beautifully queer.

Here's what to expect!

On Wednesday May 27th, we welcome Elle Machray to introduce us to a new and very different Miss Havisham - the character from Dickens' Great Expectations - who, in this version, will stop at nothing to ger her heart's desire. Elle will be in coversation with Jean Menzies.

On Tuesday June 9th, it's time for an evening of gothic horror in the company of Kat Dunn and Kirsty Logan. Kat Dunn's new novel Rottenheart exhumes the heart of Hamlet to create a fearless and haunted queer love story.

Have a wee browse of both books below, alongside some of our favourite queer off-shoots of classic stories!
