Book Fringe: ALT Edition 2024

What is Book Fringe?

The Book Fringe is our free, bookshop run, alternative August literary festival - Welcome!

Entirely run and curated by three of Scotland’s leading indie bookshops - ourselves, Typewronger, and Argonaut - Book Fringe offers readers the opportunity to meet world-class writers in the intimate and lively settings of local bookshops.

Led by Lighthouse, Book Fringe has been running for over a decade, each year reinventing itself just a wee bit while continuing to celebrate accessibility, community and creativity as only indie bookshops can!

This year the Book Fringe consists of three kinds of event from the three partners in this ALT edition of the festival:

• Lunchtime at Lighthouse (lasting 30-40mins)
• Tea-time at Typewronger (30-40mins)
• Evenings at Argonaut (45mins/ 2hrs for workshops).

Entry to ALL events is free: no tickets needed and no ticket booking unless you want event reminders & update. Events are first come first seated, so try to come a bit early to guarantee a spot (and have a browse!) - a just show up to discover some great authors!
