Seriously though, it's not you, it's the patriarchy - Facts, stats & doing something about it.

'Today’s headlines [14.08.21] were hard. Not gonna lie, did some ugly crying in a corner of the shop this morning. In June, we caught the ire of a man for having Laura Bates vital Men Who Hate Women in the window. He posted pictures of us with vitriolic misogynistic captions & filmed himself with an axe, saying we had fucked with the wrong man. We were made to feel ridiculous for our fear. We were told nothing could be done without escalation. Without community support we’d have been a mess. We’re lucky.

Today’s minimising media narrative about violence & misogyny swings from wilful ignorance to brazen gaslighting. The patriarchy is real. It is violent & it is deadly & we shame women for the many ways we navigate & negotiate that reality. Solidarity with Plymouth victims & families, all those touched by violent misogyny. To every woman who has heard that alarm bell and been told to mute or ignore it - we hear you, we see you. Especially where your experiences are compounded by racism, queerphobia, ableism, & class.

It’s not in your head, it’s NOT you: It’s patriarchy.

‘Incel’ culture is part of nexus of radicalisation too long ignored. Enough. Call a spade a spade. Understand the threat as it really exists TODAY.

The law, & police especially, are blunt, oppressive instruments infused with prejudices; our social services, welfare safety net & mental health care have been stripped, underfunded. Why invest in education & prevention when you can just blame victims after? We are overdue a new kind of justice. So goddamn mad.'
